Black Thumb or Just TOO STINKIN BUSY?!?

So, I have this bamboo plant, or should I say HAD this bamboo plant. I was obsessed with buying a bamboo plant for my apartment when I moved to Dallas. I was telling Will this when I was in Austin visiting and he decided he wanted one too. So, he (pic on left from the web cam) got one first...I was a little jealous not going to lie, but I was going to buy one shortly. (I'm telling you it was an obsession...not sure why, but yeah you have the idea!) I moved to Dallas and my first day here I went to the store to get a bamboo plant. I picked out the perfect one and thought she was great! I came home put her together and we were going to live happily ever after. (Courtney, I need my roomie back, I get lonely here!) So, I put her in the sun, gave her new water, did everything that a happy owner thought she should. I later thought her water was starting to get an odor so I poured out her water, washed her rocks with soap, and left her lying on the cabinet. Yes Yes, that is where it went wrong. I was NOT suppose to take her out of the vase, Will informed me after I did it. So, I knew I killed her then. I was so sad, but determined to revive her. For a few weeks, I sat her in the sun and made sure she had proper care. Yeah, it didn't work, she slowly turned from green, to yellow, to brown and shriveled. I KILLED HER. So, I have this dead bamboo while Will's bamboo (which was my idea in the first place!!!) is thriving, loving life in Austin and looking good. UGH! Do I have a black thumb or am I just too stinking busy? I know I'm busy, but it doesn't take much time to take care of a bamboo plant. I am in nursing school and learning to take care of people, but I can't even take care of a bamboo? Hmm...sad day in my apartment with my dead bamboo. I put her down the trash shoot and decided that I think I have a black thumb.
